How Ghostwriting Works
People are usually surprised at how easy it is to simply tell their stories and have me write the subject matter into a memoir that is conversational, informative, humorous, or suspenseful, as the case may be. As a ghostwriter, I enable you to talk (in person, via skype, telephone, or email), while I listen. That's all there is to it. I'll also ask questions and let you know what's missing from your story:
- Do you need to tell more about your early days?
- Do you need to explain your underlying motivations or reasoning?
- Do you need to go deeper into the backgrounds of other characters?
- Is research needed in order to explain some of the mysteries of the past? (If so, I'll take care of that, too)
After the interview, I'll offer some ideas as to how to frame your memoir. I’ll suggest the best approach to take so that your story will enchant, amuse, and inform. Once we agree on a story structure, I’ll have the interviews professionally transcribed. Then, I’ll start writing.
You do nothing. Relax on the beach, go back to work, or get started on your next book idea. I will submit the book to you in segments. You will see it progressing, and then, within six months, it will be finished. Your book. Your legacy. Your truth.
When the rough draft of the story is complete, we’ll go through a very specific, 5-part, editing process.
My final draft comes to you edited by a professional third-party editor and ready to be sent out to publishers and agents or self-published, as you desire.
A typical 200- to 250-page book takes about six months to complete.
